MAD is the Manga Anime Drawing club at Harding High School where students can polish their skills in Japanese comic books and graphic novel-style drawing to become better.

Students expect to become better at drawing and enjoy learning more about manga. They each have their own personal goal of becoming better.

The club tries to have an environment where everybody can learn from each other’s skills. There are days when the club watches movies just to get a better understanding of animation.

Everybody has their own goals in improving. They give

each other advice on what could be fixed. Members can get help on things like facial expressions and movement. “I can’t really get the fingers right on any of my anime characters,” said Trinity Vang, a new member.

Members are accounted for early in the session and can chat amongst themselves.

”I get updated on the latest anime shows from my friends,” said another MAD member, Stephanie Rivera Gomez.

Attendees say there is always an exciting energy coming from the room, the thrill of learning something new. The energy can be used for better artwork and volunteering to help other clubs to gain new members.
